What made Grandma special to me...

It was her love and concern for others. I was with her not long before she passed away, she was having trouble breathing and yet she still managed to ask about the kids and also tell me she has always been proud of me.

It was her strength and spirit. At the age of 93 not only did she live alone with very little assistance but she was also active in the Senior Citizens dedicating her time and energy to others.

It was her vanity. She wouldn’t leave the house unless she was properly coiffed, made up and polished. Even in the hospital, wearing a mask to assist her breathing, she refused to take out her teeth.

It was her cooking. She could cook a baked dinner that would bring tears to your tastebuds and an awesome Christmas pudding complete with threepences that thankfully lives on through mum.

It was her scent. Whenever I was hurt or upset she’d give me one of those hugs only a grandma can give and the sweet fragrance seemed to envelop me along with her arms.

Grandma, you'll be thought of often and always with love. We miss you!
